30 min · Serves 10

Based on a recipe from Food Hero Oregon State University Cooperative Extension Service, via USDA MyPlate Kitchen

What goes in

How to cook it

  1. Place a large skillet over medium-high heat (or set an electric skillet to 300 °F) and cook the ground beef and chopped onion until browned, then drain off the excess fat.
  2. Add the water, tomato sauce, dried oregano, sugar, garlic powder, rosemary, and black pepper, stirring everything together and bringing the liquid to a rolling boil.
  3. Submerge the broken spaghetti into the pan, place a lid on top, and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring regularly to stop the pasta from clumping or catching on the bottom.
  4. Once the pasta has cooked through to tender, sprinkle the grated Parmesan over the surface.
  5. Be sure to chill any remaining portions in the refrigerator within two hours.
