What goes in

How to cook it

  1. Chop the green cabbage head and the onion into small pieces and set them aside.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, for 6 to 8 minutes until browned with no pink remaining and an instant-read thermometer registers 160°F (71°C).
  3. Drain the excess fat from the skillet and transfer the cooked beef to a plate.
  4. Spray the skillet with non-stick cooking spray, return it to medium heat, and add the chopped onion. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until tender and translucent.
  5. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for 8 to 10 minutes until wilted and beginning to brown.
  6. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet, then stir in the garlic powder, black pepper, and salt and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through, then remove from the heat and serve.
